The growing middle and upper classes in many African countries are pushing the increasing demand for high-end consumer and luxury goods. High-net individuals as well as international tourists and business travellers are demanding international brands and products from Europe, the USA, and Asia. This also applies to premium wines and spirits.
Apart from South Africa, no other African country has any significant wine or spirits production, which is why demand in the respective countries can only be covered by international imports. Classic producer countries such as France, Italy, Spain, and Portugal are already present in some countries as first movers, whereas other origins are still comparatively underrepresented.
In restaurants and MICE hotspots, in beach resorts and safari lodges, in international business hotels and in the off-trade market, demand is increasing in terms of quantity and variety, creating new wine business opportunities in Africa for all classic producer countries.
With THE WINEMBASSY, we have launched an initiative that brings together the necessary expertise to identify and jointly develop wine business opportunities in Africa for our clients.

Africa Ventures Advisory is listed by the Federal Office for Economic Affairs and Export Control (BAFA) as part of the Africa consulting vouchers programme.
The Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection (BMWK) uses the ‘Africa Consulting Vouchers’ to subsidise external consulting services with up to 85% of the consulting costs in order to provide German small and medium-sized enterprises with needs-oriented advice on their economic projects in Africa.

Dr. Christian Lindfeld
Christian is the founder and Managing Director of Africa Ventures Advisory. He is an entrepreneur, consultant, and investor, has founded several companies himself, and brings more than 15 years of experience in global management consulting and leadership.
Christian has also been increasingly active as a management consultant in the wine industry for several years, including expansion and investment projects, the development of new markets, and as a board member of 4G Wines AG, Switzerland/ South Africa.
With his idea of initiating THE WINEMBASSY program, he brings together his market experience from many African countries and the wine industry to facilitate and successfully develop wine business opportunities on the African continent.
Frank Kämmer M.S.
As an internationally accomplished wine expert and experienced Master Sommelier with skills in marketing and communication, Frank offers comprehensive wine related consulting and marketing services.
His field of activity embraces services and consulting for wine producers, trade, and the hospitality industry likewise. Frank is also the writer of several books and contributes regularly to various magazines.
Frank was Head Sommelier for China's largest wine producer Changyu Pioneer, European Brand Ambassador for Koya Brandy and consults numerous international wineries. Additionally, he is a lecturer at internationally recognised Wine and Sommelier schools.
Yannik Emrich
Yannik, an Advisor at Africa Ventures Advisory since its inception, brings a profound academic background in business and economics, adding further knowledge and expertise to the team.
With almost two years of hands-on experience in the African wine industry, he has gained valuable insights, both remotely and on-site. His understanding of export-import rules and the African wine market, along with global dynamics, makes him instrumental in helping international wine producers enter new markets successfully.
Yannik's expertise allows him to navigate overseas logistics, form partnerships with local distributors, and ensure compliance with regional laws. Through his efforts, international wine brands can tap into the growing African market, paving the way for sustainable growth and recognition across the continent.
